u&u are supporting a client, who operate predominantly within the property sector, and have recently opened a brand new Brisbane head office in South Bank, due to rapid business growth. With a strong pipeline of growth and existing operations down the Eastern seaboard, our client is continually improving processes to support business expansion. One of the key business changes will be in the payroll space - brining the outsourced payroll inhouse, using Employment Hero.
The Opportunity
The newly created position of Payroll Lead / Specialist will be responsible for ownership of the payroll function, including the project to bring the payroll inhouse, and the ongoing stand alone, end to end payroll processing. There are about 350 employees on the payroll, across QLD, NSW and VIC, paid weekly, fortnightly and monthly.
Reporting directly to the CFO, the key responsibilities will include:
- End-to-end payroll processing, including calculating terminations, reviewing timesheets, managing leave entitlements, and overseeing overtime and related aspects;
- Accurately interpreting and applying Australian awards and taxation legislation;
- Setting up new starters and onboarding in the payroll system;
- Maintaining payroll quality & assurance controls by following policies and procedure manuals;
- Set up and maintenance of employee records on payroll system;
- Payment processing of Superannuation;
- Payroll related reporting such as Single Touch Payroll (STP), Payroll Tax, and internal stakeholders;
- Month end and year end reconciliations and other reports; and
- Oversee the administration of HRIS and Payroll systems, focusing on ongoing enhancements.
Required Experience
- Minimum three years' experience in a standalone payroll position;
- Employment Hero experience;
- Knowledge in all technical payroll activities, encompassing Australian statutory, awards, and compliance-related requirements;
- Ability to manage competing priorities effectively and professionally; and
- Exposure to payroll related project or systems work.
