About the role
RAWA is seeking a Peer Support Worker to be part of the multidisciplinary team based at headspace Margaret River and Busselton, with outreach support to Bunbury. The Peer Support Worker will provide both practical, psychosocial, and clinical support to young people and their families, based on their identified needs. They will support the young person in connecting them with the appropriate services at headspace. If the young person requires a service or support not provided at headspace, the Peer Support Worker will assist the young person with a referral to the appropriate service or organisation.
Skills, experience, and qualifications
Tertiary level qualifications or working towards a tertiary qualification in social work, psychology, behavioural/social sciences.
The ability and experience to undertake intake assessment and screening activities, including comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessment to determine client needs, and to assist clients to access appropriate services.
The ability and experience to deliver brief therapeutic interventions as well as provide case work support.
Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a diverse range of people, in particular the ability to engage with young people and advocate on their behalf.
Experience working in a multidisciplinary team assisting in the planning and coordinating of client care.
Knowledge and ability to develop and deliver group-based activities to assist clients’ improve psychosocial functioning (e.g. life skills, anger management, problem solving, conflict resolution, etc.).
