👉🏼 The need-to-know…

As a Peer Support WorkerGroup Services, you will use your lived experience along with your professional skills to support the rights and interests of people who identify with severe and persistent mental health in a one-to-one capacity and on a group activity basis. 

A typical day may look like…. 

  • Providing Peer Support through delivery of structured centres, community-based group activities and a drop-in centre. 
  • Plan & implement individual & group activities in collaboration with clients & stakeholders.
  • Establishing and maintaining positive relations with client and their significant others. 
  • Collaborating with clients to develop an action plan with clearly defined goals addressing psychosocial concerns within the recovery model framework.
  • Focusing on recovery orientated practices such as supporting clients to achieve their individual goals including providing advocacy, information, and resources. 
  • Responding to and managing crisis in collaboration with relevant health professionals. 
  • Transporting clients from A to B using a Rise minibus.
  • Fostering & promoting a collaborative team environment within the workplace.

This will initially be a casual position with the possibility to transition to permanent, part-time. Flexibility to work in various Perth Metro locations including Swan View, Warwick & Heathridge between 1pm – 6.15pm is required. Shifts will be structured like this…

Shift 1: Tuesday, 1.15pm – 3.15pm in Swan View.

Shift 2: Wednesday, 1.45pm – 6.15pm in Warwick.

Shift 3: Friday, 1.45pm – 4.15pm in Heathridge.

Recruitment for this role will involve 1st & 2nd stage interviews for shortlisted candidates.

👉🏼 The need-to-have…

  • Related qualification (minimum Certificate III) in related subject and/or relevant experience.
  • Understanding of the Mental Health National Standards and Quality Management Frameworks
  • Lived experience. 
  • Experience working with vulnerable clients with a focus on mental wellness and recovery following the ‘Mental Health Recovery Model framework’.
  • Well-developed communication & interpersonal skills with the ability to work with families, advocates & others as required.
  • Current driver’s licence & ability to transport clients on our minibus.
