We care for thousands of children each year in our hospitals and in their homes — with one purpose in mind — to help young people live their healthiest lives.This Permanent Part Time position will commence from 1/7/24What you'll be doingThe physiotherapist will provide expert clinical services to patients known to the Palliative Care service. The physiotherapist will provide assessment, intervention and planning for outcomes around function and participation, which improve quality of life. Services will be delivered to both inpatients and outpatients, and may involve direct clinical care (in hospital or in the community), and/or consultative care. The physiotherapist will liaise with local and community-based services involved with the patient and family.Additional information:
- An eligibility list may be created for future Permanent Part Time and temporary Part Time vacancies.
- Planning, development and evaluation of physiotherapy services and models of care both within the physiotherapy department and Palliative Care teams
- Development, implementation and evaluation of resources, policies, procedures and practice guidelines relevant to the pediatric Palliative Care population, across the SCHN
- Recognised qualification in Physiotherapy and current AHPRA registration
- Extensive postgraduate experience and knowledge in the management of children and young people with a life limiting condition or illness and a demonstrated understanding of the impact of issues related to Palliative Care on function, participation and quality of life.
- Demonstrated advanced level of clinical reasoning and skills across a range of areas, preferably with experience in oncology, neurology, cardiorespiratory and aquatic physiotherapy.
- Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and cohesively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Excellent time management and prioritisation skills with an ability to work flexibly within clinical and administrative service demands.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in clinical supervision, education provision, service planning, the development of models of care, and leading and evaluating quality improvement activities and research
- Class C NSW driver’s licence or equivalent.
