Job description
Working with Bravehearts means working with a dedicated team that is on a mission to protect kids.
One of the ways we do this is through our Bravehearts Ditto's Keep Safe Adventure Show. Aimed at children aged 3 to 8, our show is delivered in early learning centres and lower primary schools to children of all abilities. The program has reached over 1.3 million Australian children since its inception in 2006 and we've just launched a brand new and exciting show!
We are looking for our next enthusiastic live performer and Team Leader to lead, coordinate and deliver our show in the Geelong region. The role is a parental leave cover for approximately 8 months - it's part time, 22.8 hours per week (Tuesday to Thursday), during school terms only. You will form part of our Ditto Keep Safe Adventure show, taking it in turns to either play the role of Ditto or the Facilitator. As Team Leader, you will also ensure the necessary administration tasks such as booking shows, reporting, creating and closing out new show leads etc are completed to a high standard.
What you will bring to the role:
The ability to learn 3 x scripts, hold an audience of kids and to embrace the character of Ditto! (this includes wearing the lion cub mascot suit). You will also need to travel around Geelong to visit schools and early learning centres so a manual drivers license is essential.
Experience working with young people and/or experience in performing
Experience in or the demonstrated capability to lead a small team
Great communication, time management skills and the ability to canvass and create new leads within schools and early learning centres
Experience in administration role and/or using a CRM would be ideal (but not essential)
What you will get in return:
The chance to educate children on important issues & knowing you are making a difference everyday
A dynamic role that creates a balance between being active and on your feet, and working in the office managing bookings and maintaining strong relationships with customers
Extra benefits like Birthday leave, professional development leave and access to salary packaging which increases your take home pay each fortnight.
The other things to know:
The role requires you to put on the Ditto mascot suit, so successful applicants must not have any pre exiting injuries which could be impacted by wearing the mascot suit
We read cover letters so please include one with your resume as it helps us to understand why you've applied and what skills you can bring
Please apply quickly as we may close the advert early if we find our next Ditto
If you need us to make any special adjustments so that you can fully participate in our recruitment process then please either outline them in your application or confidentially via ***********@bravehearts.org.au.
As a child-safe organisation, successful candidates must have a Working with Vulnerable People Check and National Police Certificate before commencing with Bravehearts.
All of the full details of the role are available in the position description which you can find here - bravehearts.org.au/careers/
We foster a work environment that is inclusive and diverse so if you are an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander or come from any other diverse or minority group, we'd love to receive your application.
