About the Opportunity:
The Physiotherapy Team Lead is part of a multidisciplinary team, responsible to the Clinical Excellence Lead for the delivery of quality physiotherapy service that is in accordance with contemporary residential aged care practice and that complies with the requirements of Accreditation under the Aged Care Act and of the Australian National Aged Care Classification Funding Model (AN-ACC).
The Team Lead is responsible for providing professional and clinical leadership through consultation and liaison with physiotherapy colleagues and the larger clinical team within St Basil’s Homes (SA) as well as other internal and external allied health professionals.
The Team Lead ensures that the operational management of physiotherapy services and reporting practices are fulfilled.
This role works closely with General Managers, Clinical Care Coordinators, and other clinical team members at each site to optimise clinical outcomes for residents of St Basils Homes SA.
This role will require you to work across all our sites Croydon Park, St Peters and Christies Downs on a rotating roster.
Skills and experience:
- Provide high-quality physiotherapy services for St Basil’s Homes SA
- Guide and supervise Physiotherapist Team members, allied health assistants, care staff and students in care practices to achieve optimum resident outcomes.
- Manage an appropriate workload utilizing effective time management and clinical reasoning skills.
- Support and act as a clinical consultant to other physiotherapy team members in the area of clinical intervention to facilitate improved resident services.
- Undertake comprehensive, holistic assessments of residents on admission and as necessary.
- Evaluate the needs of each resident through the process of clinical reasoning to develop individualised care plans to optimise the resident’s mobility and dexterity.
- Reassess each resident regularly and as referred by the clinical team to ensure that their care plan is accurate.
- Deliver resident care in accordance with current professional and ethical standards, evidence-based practice, relevant legislation and common law.
- Demonstrate a high level of skill in the use of treatment techniques as appropriate for older people.
- Develop a manual handling program for staff and undertake staff manual handling assessments as required
- Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with professional standards and information systems provided by St Basil’s Homes (SA) to ensure accreditation compliance is met.
- Monitor and coordinate resources (equipment, staff, etc.) and provide support and education to ensure service delivery is in accordance with the care plans.
- Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) or equivalent
- Current registration with the Australian Health and Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- A current National Police Clearance (or willingness to apply)
- Covid and seasonal influenza vaccination status to be provided
