GAC represents the Banjima, Yinhawangka and Nyiyaparli people of the Pilbara region in Western Australia. GAC was established in 1996 following negotiations with Hamersley Iron Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Rio Tinto, to advocate for the collective interests of the Traditional Owners.
We are a member-based organisation and serve around 2,000 Members across Western Australia, Australia and the world.

THE OPPORTUNITY
A full-time opportunity to work in one of the most unique landscapes in the world. This role is diverse and will allow you to have a real impact on our local Gumala communities. You will be responsible for our Pilbara operations team, based in Tom Price, Karratha and Hedland; and engaged in activities ranging from community development to housing.
Other duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Managing financial and legal compliance of Gumala activities in the Pilbara
- Building and maintaining cooperative and strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Providing high-level leadership to the team and in managing organisational risks within the Pilbara region.
- Ensuring strategic alignment of all activities and operations undertaken in the region.
- Conducting regular reviews of operations, and recommending innovative and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Preparing grant applications for external funding.
- Motivating and inspiring your team.
- A demonstrated track record of performing effectively at a senior management level.
- Demonstrated ability to lead strategic and operational change; and leading others effectively.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills - including negotiation, conflict resolution, customer service and stakeholder management.
- Experience in writing and winning grants.
- An understanding of the challenges facing remote Aboriginal communities.
- High degree of self-motivation
- The capacity to live and work in a remote community with occasional travel to towns outside of Tom Price, including Perth.
- Knowledge and ability to operate a four-wheel drive vehicle.
- Annual salary $130,000 plus Super
- Salary packaging to reduce your taxable income and boost your take home pay.

- This position is offered on a 12-month fixed term contract, with the possibility of extension.
