About This Opportunity
The School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work have a fantastic opportunity for a Placement Coordinator to join the Placement Education Team. As the Placement Coordinator, you will assist in the development and maintenance of formal and informal partnerships and relationships between the School, UQ and our placement school partners to facilitate Social Work placements. You will coordinate placements for students within the undergraduate and postgraduate Social Work programs.
Key responsibilities will include:
Liaising with Program Directors and Lecturers to coordinate and oversee appropriate placements for undergraduate and graduate entry students.
Assisting the Lead Practice Educator and academics to develop new partnerships within the social services healthcare industries.
Maintaining relationships with current placement partners
Staying up-to-date with placement related Policy developments (e.g. UQ, Qld Health,) and notifying Academics and School Management as required.
Developing and maintaining accurate records of students’ placement activities including UQ databases and hospital databases (as required).
Managing the administration of the rural placement program – arranging travel and reimbursement of student expenses.
Liaising with relevant sections of UQ and the School on matters relating to industry placements including Insurance, Occupational Health & Safety, Legal requirements (Deeds) and student Travel forms.
Ensuring Risk Assessments for placements and other student external activities are developed in consultation with the Senior Facilities & Operations Officer and Faculty OH&S and Facilities Manager.
Assisting the placement education team in the preparation of materials relating to placements, including: student placement manuals and information packages.
Providing training in field education and placements and student placement related systems.
This is a part-time (60%), continuing position.
At HEW level 6, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $86,371 - $92,658, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $101,055 - $108,410 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.
Due to the nature of the role, the Placement Coordinator is required to take leave from the start of December until mid-February each year. A combination of paid and unpaid leave will be used. Please take this into consideration prior to submitting your application.
About You
Completion of an undergraduate degree with subsequent relevant experience; or extensive experience and specialist expertise in an administrative field or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
Demonstrated ability to positively develop and manage strong working relationships with external and internal stakeholders across a wide client base.
Demonstrated empathy and ability to communicate with students, including an awareness of cross-cultural differences.
Excellent computer skills, including a sound knowledge and experience in the use of Microsoft office, and the ability to rapidly acquire skills in new applications.
Demonstrated customer service skills, showing capacity to deal with a wide range of clients in a helpful, enthusiastic way.
Ability to be flexible and adaptable to change and willing to explore new options and find creative solutions to problems.
Demonstrated experience in exercising tact, judgement and discretion when dealing with confidential and personal matters.
Demonstrated ability to show initiative, be flexible and willing to work across a range of activities.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks.
Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to prioritise own workload, and meet deadlines.
