Job description

Join us in shaping the future of Western Australia's public transport system!
Join the Public Transport Authority (PTA) on its journey to become a leader in world-class public transport services and solutions. In the thriving economy of Western Australia, our public transport system stands out as the best in the country—efficient, clean, and one of the safest networks globally. As we expand our network to accommodate millions of people, we need the expertise and dedication of a talented workforce.
The Opportunity: Planning and Budgeting Project Lead for Business Transformation
The PTA is gearing up for a ground-breaking initiative—the Business Transformation Program. This program aims to reshape our corporate operating model, structures, and technology, enhancing our work methodologies and optimising the use of financial, human, and asset data. To achieve this ambitious goal, we need additional resources, especially to replace our aging legacy systems.
About the Role:
As Planning and Budgeting Project Lead, you will be responsible for managing the implementation of a planning, budgeting & forecasting (PB&F) solution for the PTA that will transform its planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes and will provide greater transparency across the organisation. You will manage the project from start to finish and will work with key stakeholders to ensure a fit for purpose solution is successfully delivered. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact and drive strategic change within the PTA.
Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Managing the Planning and implementation of the PB&F solution project and reporting against project plans, key milestones, and associated risks.
  • Providing leadership and direction to a project team to enable successful delivery of the project.
  • Working with key stakeholders to manage expectations and to develop and implement change management plans.
  • Participating in the selection of a solution vendor and/or implementation partner and working with vendors to ensure the selected solution aligns with the PTA’s cost drivers.
  • Ensuring the PB&F solution is successfully utilised by users, providing support where required, and reporting on its usage and effectiveness.
This is a unique 2-year fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension and/or permanency, offering an immediate start and the opportunity to leave a lasting mark on Western Australia's public transport landscape.
About You:
The ideal candidate will bring:
A strong background in project management.
Demonstrated knowledge of financial software applications and their implementation.
A solid understanding of organisational planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes, including the link to cost drivers.
The ability to manage cross-functional teams effectively and lead change within a dynamic environment.
Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with a proven track record of building strong relationships.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to provide solutions where required.
The selection process aims to fill the current vacancy, with successful applicants considered for other positions within the PTA.
The PTA promotes diversity and inclusion and acknowledges the positive impact this has on individual, team and organisational performance. We actively encourage people with disabilities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and persons from culturally diverse backgrounds to apply.
What We Offer:
  • Training & Development Opportunities
  • Career Pathways
  • Supportive and Dynamic Team Environment
  • Health & Wellbeing Programs, including an Onsite Gym
  • Subsidised Corporate Apparel and Spectacles
  • Key Involvement in Supporting WA's Major Projects with a Lasting Impact for Generations
Don't miss this opportunity to contribute to the positive transformation of the PTA and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of public transport in Western Australia.
