Argus Waste Recycling is a Liquid Treatment Facility that holds an EPA license for waste recovery, processing, recycling and resource recovery of a range of prescribed industrial wastes.
We process and recycle all wastes transported to our purpose-built site. All material recovered from grease traps and used cooking oil collections is diverted from landfills and recycled for higher-end uses and applications.
About the role
The Plant Manager is responsible for the production output of a fast-growing liquid treatment facility. This involves planning, organisation and optimal running of the plant on a day-to-day basis to ensure production is maximised and assets are worked to capacity, whilst maintaining flexibility, cost and quality standards.
As the Plant Manager you will oversee a team to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safe operating procedures as well as maintaining a high level of customer service. You will also work with the operations and sales teams to co-ordinate and maximise the throughput of liquid waste streams. As the plant is manually operated, you will need to have a very hands-on approach and expect to be involved with processing of the waste alongside the plant operators at various times.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor incoming industrial liquid waste at the plant
- Plan, organise, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed customer expectations.
- Collect and analyse data of incoming waste and provide advice to sales team and customers as required for waste acceptance.
- Conduct screening, testing and treatment of industrial liquid waste
- Providing advice and assistance on environmental issues to all employees
- Actioning environmental reports and carrying out workplace inspections.
- Manage trade waste discharge requirements, compliance and reporting obligations.
- Promote and ensure compliance with Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Policies and Site Operating Procedures
- Team management - provide leadership, guidance, support and feedback to the team
- Support other divisions to maximise the waste streams and volumes accepted into the plant
Background & Experience
- Previous experience in the liquid waste industry
- Excellent interpersonal relationship skills, in particular building constructive and long-term relationships with both internal and external parties
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- At least three (3) years’ experience in a similar role
- Qualified Chemical engineer, Environmental Science Degree or similar
