We are seeking a motivated Plant Operator / Labourer to join our team in Injune. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining various types of machinery, including civil plant equipment, to support our construction and maintenance projects. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, physical labor, and strong teamwork skills.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain a range of plant equipment, such as excavators, loaders, graders, and rollers, in accordance with safety guidelines and manufacturer instructions.
- Perform routine maintenance on machinery, including checking and replacing fluids, lubricating parts, and repairing minor issues to ensure optimal performance.
- Complete daily equipment inspection reports, documenting any faults or defects and reporting them to the appropriate supervisor.
- Follow project specifications and instructions to effectively and efficiently carry out tasks, such as digging trenches, backfilling, compacting surfaces, and operating machinery to move materials.
- Assist with general labor duties, including manual excavation, material handling, and site cleanup, as required.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensuring a safe work environment for yourself and colleagues.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to coordinate work activities, ensure project deadlines are met, and troubleshoot any issues that arise during construction or maintenance tasks.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience as a Plant Operator, Civil Plant Operator, or similar role, preferably in a construction or infrastructure environment.
- Strong knowledge of and experience operating various types of plant machinery, such as excavators, loaders, graders, and rollers.
- Valid driver's license and relevant certifications, such as a Construction White Card and machinery-specific licenses (e.g., Excavator Operator License).
- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labor tasks, including lifting heavy objects, working in outdoor environments, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently when required.
- Flexibility to work overtime and weekends, as needed.
