Join our Infrastructure Delivery Unit in a permanent full-time role. The Plant OperatorLevel 1 position provides safe and effective transport of Council employees and/or plant and materials throughout the Tweed Shire. You are responsible for the daily maintenance and operation of the plant and any associated equipment. It is desirable that the incumbent has a sound knowledge of the shire road network.

literacy and numeracy skills at a level sufficient to enable reading of job instructions, operation and maintenance manuals and to complete work records
experience and ability to operate and maintain plant in a safe manner
competence in plant maintenance and cleaning procedures
reliable and have a strong commitment to safety

PLANT
Roller, Tractor Mower (C Licence)
Street and Footpath Sweeper (MR Licence)

3. Demonstrated competence in plant maintenance and cleaning procedures.
4. Demonstrated communication skills and the capacity to work as a member of a team.
5. Demonstrated competence in preparing and maintaining accurate records within required timeframes, for example – daily run sheets, safety checks and timesheets.
6. General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
Desirable:
7. Sound knowledge of Tweed Shire Road network.
8. Hold additional National High Risk Work Licences and/or RMS heavy vehicle licence (MR, HR, or HC) for other plant and machinery listed in this position description.
9. Demonstrated experience in the operation of one or more additional plant and machinery listed in this position description.
10. Demonstrated recent experience in civil construction e.g., drainage and concrete construction, and earthworks or relevant qualification e.g., Certificate III Construction.
11. Demonstrated competence in the use of a chainsaw.
12. Available and willing to be part of the afterhours on call team (planned roster).
