Job Description
The Claims Policy & Communications Specialist is responsible for the development, maintenance and implementation of best-in class collateral and procedures required to support claims handling and settling activities in line with regulatory requirements.
A key accountability of this role will be to provide effective, fit for purpose knowledge artefacts that cater to the evolving needs of the business and regulatory landscape.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Development, maintenance and implementation of best-in-class collateral required to support claims handling and settling activities in line with regulatory and brand requirements.
- Development and maintenance of policies, procedures and guidelines to support claims handling and assessment.
- Ongoing oversight of of internal claims policies and procedures to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and the TAL's claims philosophy.
- Manage small to medium sized projects or initiatives to improve TAL's compliance with regulatory obligations and/or service provision to customers.
- Supporting the creation claims system guides, where required.
- Input into the due diligence process relating to policies & procedures and, where required, claims collateral.
- Content creation and presentation at change briefing sessions.
- Scoping and sizing of work activities and involvement in business prioritisation sessions.
- Ensure changes are well imbedded and that claims staff have the required knowledge artefacts and tools to perform claims handling and settling activities.
- Creation and maintenance of Life Insurance Code of Practice process artefacts including guides and process maps.
- Developing key stakeholder relationships in order to ensure the best service is delivered to customers.
- Supporting the creation of content for tenders and regulatory responses, as required.
- Staying abreast of internal and external developments so that future impacts on the business can be identified.
- Providing subject matter expertise regarding claims policy and practices.
- Contribute to the technical development of the team through coaching and mentoring.
- Support ongoing strong risk culture within claims.
- Representation at various industry forums, where required
- Minimum 3 years experience in Life Insurance Claims, or similar role with exposure to correspondence, guideline or procedure drafting.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Well developed analysis and problem solving skills.
- Well developed self-management skills including planning, prioritising and time management.
- An ability to develop strong working relationships across departments and business units.
- Strong stakeholder management skills.
- An understanding of change management prinicples and practices.
- An understanding of project management prinicples and practices including scoping and sizing work activities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
- An enthusiastic approach to work and willingness to help with tasks at hand.
- Sound understanding of the legal and regulatory framework surrounding life insurance and and managing risk in a claims environment.
- Ability to familiarise oneself with relevant business unit and enterprise procedures, policies and guidelines and review their application.
