About the Role
City Libraries offer an extensive range of programs, activities and events, to inform, inspire and engaging the community we serve. Our specialised programs help attract customers to our libraries, encouraging people from all walks of life to connect, learn and grow.
We are delighted to be seeking a First 5 Forever Team Lead to support our Family Engagement programming. We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative person who has a passion for early language and literacy programs. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, where you will lead by example and be comfortable building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders.
First 5 Forever is an early literacy program delivered by Public Libraries and Indigenous Knowledge Centres, with the primary aim of providing strong early literacy foundations for all Queensland children aged 0-5 years. https://www.slq.qld.gov.au/first5forever First 5 Forever connects families to the information, resources and support they need to build the best foundation for their child’s future language and literacy development.
The primary responsibility of this position is to research, plan, report, and lead the delivery of innovative programs and projects specific to First 5 Forever, in accordance with the terms of the State Library of Queensland First 5 Forever Grant. You will facilitate embedding of First 5 Forever principles into City Libraries’ core family engagement programs and build relationships with appropriate organisations to facilitate outcome-focused outreach into the community. First 5 Forever is based at Ormeau but you will be required to work in all Library locations as needed.
Requirements:
Lead the First 5 Forever program within City Libraries at both the strategic and operational levels. Manage the First 5 Forever budget, reporting and acquittal of grant funding. Develop community partnerships to support the delivery of quality programs. Work directly with library program delivery staff to review and support Family Engagement programs. Plan and deliver Family Engagement events and activities, both in the 0-5 years and 6-12 years space, including School Holiday Activities, Children’s Book Week and Summer Reading Club. Create engaging content to promote library programs and events through both physical and digital channels
What you bring to the role
You will be a ‘can do’ person who has a passion for early literacy and family engagement. You will have well-developed written and verbal communication skills,and the ability to build relationships within libraries and in the community.
You will have:
A Tertiary Degree in a relevant field Superior Customer Engagement skills The ability to coach and mentor members of the public to read effectively to their children. Ability to lead teams in a unique and welcoming environment.
