The Opportunity: We are currently seeking an experienced Portfolio Analyst to join our dynamic team in Melbourne. This role is pivotal in delivering portfolio construction insights, meticulous due diligence on prospective investments, and continuous assessment of investment performance. The successful candidate will a team player and enjoy a wealth of learning opportunities through direct engagement with various facets of our operation, from contributing to Investment Committee discussions to interacting with clients, fund managers, and investment professionals.

Our investment scope is diverse, encompassing everything from conventional Fixed Interest and Equity strategies to more niche and unique offerings such as Private Equity, Syndicated Property assets, and Alternative Strategies such as Infrastructure and Agriculture. We require a candidate with a genuine passion for financial markets and investments, a keen eagerness to expand their knowledge base, and the drive to offer sophisticated advice to our high-calibre clients.

Core Responsibilities:

• Drive strategic portfolio construction and investment oversight.
• Produce detailed client reports and conduct thorough portfolio analysis.
• Conducting comprehensive investment research, due diligence, and manager selection.
• Formulate and present investment advice.
• Manage client communications related to new investment opportunities and updates for existing investments.
• Handle various back-office tasks, including administrative duties, investment position updating and bookkeeping in IRESS Xplan, meeting coordination, compliance, and ad-hoc projects.

Qualifications and Experience:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Financial Planning, or a related discipline.
• At least 2-3 years of relevant experience in a similar firm.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, with advanced skills in Excel and Power BI.
• Broad investment acumen, including hands-on experience with all asset classes including Equities, Fixed Interest, Property and Alternative investments.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex investment strategies for clients.
• Robust analytical abilities and expertise in investment research and due diligence.
• Autonomous work ethic, underpinned by disciplined time management skills.
• Strong numerical aptitude and adept problem-solving capabilities.
