More flexibility, less one-size-fits-all
RBA is currently seeking an experienced Portfolio Manager to lead a team of project management specialists. This position will help mature the project management practice and provide leadership to project management personnel across a portfolio of IT change initiatives, in a way which is aligned to the departmental and Bank-wide strategy and vision.
Key Objectives
- Lead a team of Project Management personnel providing the required mentoring, coaching, performance management, line management, and career development guidance.
- Contribute to the broader strategic direction and leadership of the area, sharing accountability with other leaders for overall performance of deliverables and outcomes to meet the current and future needs of the Bank.
- Lead the creation of new Business Cases.
- Oversee and assist in developing robust and achievable program and project plans to manage the quality delivery of multiple, concurrent projects and programs.
- Help develop the Project Management practice and ensure consistent application and continuous improvement in policies, systems and Ways of Working for the Bank’s change initiatives leveraging Traditional and Agile methods such as Scrum, Kanban, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and DevOps.
- Negotiate with peers, senior stakeholders, and sponsors across departments to develop a consistent view of the portfolio across financials, delivery practices, reporting and governance.
- Oversee, including providing advice, in relation to business change strategy, structure, processes, frameworks and planning, and lead and manage projects, programs or initiatives that contribute to the organisation's strategic goals.
Your background
- Significant experience leading a team of Project Management personnel, including line management responsibilities.
- Substantial experience in leading multiple projects as a Program or Portfolio Manager in a complex and large-scale technical environment using Agile methodologies. Those in Project Management roles with no direct line management experience need not apply.
- Substantial experience dealing with senior executives and meeting competing demands to expectations.
- Knowledge and significant experience of various leadership styles and facilitation techniques, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment and increasing transparency.
- Direct experience in one or more aspects of projects involving Software design/ development, Technical or Business Architecture and Delivery.
- Experience working in Banking, Financial Services, IT, Insurance, Telecommunication or Financial Markets.
- Exceptional communications and engagement skills in connecting people to purpose and outcomes.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent industry experience.
- Agile and Scrum Certifications (CSM, CSPO, PSM II, A-CSM).
- Project Management Certifications (PMBOK, Prince 2).
