The Role
The Motor Portfolio Manager will play a pivotal role in monitoring and optimising the performance of the domestic motor portfolio. Their main focus will include:
- Lifting the monitoring and reporting capabilities and reporting framework.
- Defining and evolving a comprehensive set of lag and lead KPIs.
- Generating insights and identifying areas of opportunity to continuously and proactively optimise growth and profitability.
- Oversee implementation and monitoring impact of agreed performance-enhancing initiatives.
- Supporting the yearly and quarterly planning and (re-)forecasting processes.

Accountabilities
- Work closely with various teams to gather and synthesise data related to portfolio growth, new and renewing business performance, risk selection, underwriting strategies, service and claims financial and operational experience.
- Conduct a comprehensive analysis of the motor insurance portfolio to identify trends, issues and opportunities.
- Generate actionable insights and recommendations for management based on analysis of the portfolio.
- Evaluate the risk exposure and volatility within the motor insurance portfolio.
- Summarise and communicate findings and recommendations to senior management, underwriters, product managers, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Support robust business cases to inform prioritisation of initiatives in the domestic motor space.
- Actively seek opportunities to improve analysis methodologies, reporting processes, and data-driven decision-making within the organisation.
- Support management in the yearly budgeting and quarterly (re-)forecasting process, including setting and reviewing plan assumptions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to leverage collective expertise and knowledge finalised at enhancing the motor insurance portfolio.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in General Insurance
- Working knowledge and understanding of short-tail insurance product(s), underwriting and rating methods, systems and procedures – including drivers and levers of profitable growth.
- Proven experience in data and portfolio analysis, including ability to:
- Access and manipulate data quickly and efficiently.
- Join multiple datasets.
- Work with both structured and unstructured datasets.
- Understanding of statistical models applicable to short-tail insurance.
- Superior numerical and analytical skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation.
- Working knowledge of statistical software such as SAS and any other relevant statistical software language(s).
