Applications are sought from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Post Graduate Fellow in Cardiothoracic Surgery at John Hunter Hospital. The successful applicant will have completed advanced training to become a specialist medical practitioner in Cardiothoracic Surgery. You will provide high quality clinical care, diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the level of a Post Graduate Fellow, and participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department at John Hunter Hospital and HNELHD as required.
Mandatory requirements of the role include:
- Be eligible for specialist registration with AHPRA and hold Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons with recognised qualifications in Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or equivalent specialist recognition as provided for in the NSW Staff Specialist (State) Award (applicants expecting to be awarded fellowship prior to, or within three months of the expected commencement date may be considered)
- Have demonstrated current Cardiothoracic Surgery clinical practice of a high standard consistent with the role of a Post Graduate Fellow, with ability to adapt clinical practice in accordance with contemporary evidence based practice
- Attendance and availability during rostered work hours whilst on-call including handover, clinical supervision, teaching and for emergency and routine care as determined and required by HNELHD
