An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to fill the position of Pound Facility Officer with our local Ranger team. This position supports the day to day tasks of the City of Mandurah Council Pound including the care, management, release and rehoming of impounded animals.
You will be responsible for:
- Ensuring that all legislative responsibilities relating to the impoundment, care and rehoming of animals are met.
- Working in a pro-active manner as part of a high-performance team to encourage community liaison, education and promotion of the relevant statutory requirements.
- Contributing towards a constructive culture which achieves team and organisational goals.
- Maintaining a strong customer service commitment to the community.
- Attending to Pound Facility operational functions.
- A Certificate in Animal Handling and Husbandry or minimum of 3 years’ previous experience in animal handling, particularly dogs.
- Hold a current C class driver’s licence.
- A WA Police clearance certificate (less than 6 months old)
- Competent knowledge of statutory legislation, Dog Act 1976 and Regulations; Cat Act 2011 and Regulations; Animal Welfare Act; City of Mandurah Local Laws; procedures and policies relevant to the City of Mandurah Impound Facility.
- Competent knowledge of the Local Government Act 1995; Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act relevant to impoundment of dogs, cats, livestock, vehicles and pound facilities.
- Demonstrated previous animal handling and husbandry skills, including dogs, cats, domestic animals and livestock.
- Sound knowledge of dog, cat & vehicle pound facilities processes and procedures.
- Ability to explain information correctly and concisely.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of computer programs such as Excel and Word.
- Strong customer service focus on community wellbeing.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Demonstrated consultation, negotiation and mediation skills.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to use initiative, being reliable and adaptable.
- Ability to work weekends
- Ability to work in a supportive team environment and contribute toward a constructive culture which achieves team and organisational goals.
This temporary part-time Level 3 position attracts a pro-rata salary range of $67,472 - $72,970 gross per annum dependent on qualifications. We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workforce.
