About Us

Thrive House is a dual-lens residential support service providing high-quality care to children and adults in need. Constantly raising the bar, we employ over 250 dedicated staff, supporting young people in out-of-home care in our residential homes located in North Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay regions. 

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing best practices within our disability services division.  As the Practice Lead - NDIS, you will drive program development and ensure the delivery of high-quality services that meet the unique needs of individuals with disabilities.

This role will be based on the Sunshine Coast in beautiful Mooloolaba, with occasional travel to our Moreton Bay and Brisbane Regions. 

We're Looking For: 

  • Someone who fosters and promotes trauma-informed supports, evidence-based practices, reflective practice and professional dialogue 
  • Demonstrated capacity to develop and implement workforce development and business plans. 
  • Professional experience relevant to the leadership of direct services to children and families, including child protection, disability, NDIS, youth work, and/or mental health services.
  • Ability to motivate, lead, support, and mentor staff to achieve organisational goals within a team environment in collaboration with other members of the leadership team.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with a diverse range of people, including strong negotiation and facilitation skills.
  • Understanding best practice principles in staff training, learning and development.
  • You have a strong understanding of the role of the National Disability Insurance Scheme and Child Protection and have a sound knowledge of the principles of the Child Protection Act (1999) and the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act (2013).
  • Ability to identify potential risks and hazards in the working environment and implement mitigation strategies. 
  • You will be committed to training and continuous development with a desire to Thrive!

Specific Requirements

  • Tertiary (degree level or higher) qualification in one of the behavioural or human services (for example, psychology, social work or similar). 
  • Minimum two years’ experience in a managerial position.
  • Strong analytical, presentation and writing skills.
  • Experience in positive stakeholder partnerships, requiring strong negotiation skills. 
  • Someone who can establish relationships with individuals who access the service that encourages self-determination and participation.
  • Someone who is committed to providing high-quality service and provide support which reflects the Child Safety Statement of Standards, Disability Services Standards, legislative requirements, funding objectives, plans and goals.
  • Previous experience overseeing thorough assessments, including needs, risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Experience in case planning and reviewing progress in collaboration with the individual and implementing a range of interventions that address the needs or goals of the individual, as well as barriers to achieving those.

Compliance requirements

  • You are eligible to work in Australia.
  • You hold a current driver's licence and can obtain an LCS check and blue and yellow cards.
  • Vaccination against COVID (2 doses), Influenza and Hepatitis A is strongly recommended.
