My GP Mackay is seeking an experienced Practice Nurse to join an established General Practice conveniently located in the Mater Medical Centre, 76 Willetts Road, North Mackay QLD 4740 (open 8AM to 5PM Monday through Friday). Qualifications & experience
- Applicants MUST HAVE current unconditional registration as a Nurse on the AHPRA Register of Practitioners
- Applicants should have sufficient experience to undertake the specified tasks and responsibilities with minimal training
Tasks & responsibilities
- Facilitate and document Care Plans, Health Assessments and Diabetes Assessments in consultation with Doctor
- Assist Doctor with excisions of skin cancers, cysts, venesection and other treatment room procedures as required. Clean instruments and package for sterilisation by external facility, receive sterilised instruments, store and record useage.
- Dressings - apply, take down and reapply Removal of sutures
- Conduct ECG, INR, BSL, audiogram, sight and pathology sample testing as directed
- Responsibility for an assured cold chain in storage of vaccines. Monitor vaccine stock levels and expiry dates, re-order and discard as required
- Set up for baby and childhood immunisations, including to assist Doctor with actual vaccinations Set up for usual range of GP vaccinations plus prolia, B12 etc including drawing up if required and documentation
- Explain procedures to patients, providing them with support and assistance. Assist with patient education and community health promotion activities.
- BP, weight, height, smoking, alcohol, physical activity assessments on new and existing patients plus newborn and infant measurements
- Communicate diagnostic recalls to patients as required, document and diligently follow-up to ensure closure. Respond to telephone queries from patients as qualified to do so and document these encounters in patient's clinical file,
- Monitor Doctors Bag, drug cupboard, crash trolley and adrenaline kits and treatment room supplies in general - check expiry dates and re-order as required
