The Role
The Pre-Construction Manager plays a pivotal role in our bid team, collaborating closely with project delivery staff members.
This position is responsible for developing comprehensive construction methodologies, construction programs, and various plans crucial for tender submissions. The role requires a deep understanding of construction processes, attention to detail, and the ability to create clear and concise documentation.
This role is open to be based in our Brisbane office.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop detailed construction methodologies outlining step-by-step processes for project execution
- Create and manage construction programs outlining project timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
- Attend tender site inspections
- Draft comprehensive management plans such as but not limited to traffic management, scaffolding plans, crane strategies and concrete pour sequencing plans
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize impact of potential issues
- Maintain accurate and organised documentation for all plans and methodologies.
- Provide timely and clear reports to support tender submissions and project planning
- Solicit and maintain communication with consultants and key subcontractors that assist with the construction methodology.
- Endeavour to investigate and provide value engineering solutions with internal and external resources
- Monitor and manage the workloads of estimators, ensuring equitable distribution of tasks.
- Assess the capacity of the estimation team regularly, taking into account current and upcoming projects.
- Collaborate with the Bid Manager to prioritize tasks and allocate resources efficiently.
- Participate in “Tender to Project Handover” meetings for successful tenders with the project team, providing detailed briefing of the tender requirements and construction methodology
- Participate in “Post-Project Reviews” meetings and conduct thorough reviews comparing the tender submissions with the actual project outcomes
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management (or a related field).
- Extensive knowledge of construction practices and procedures gained from at least 5 years’ experience in the building and construction environment.
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, safety standards, and industry best practices.
- Knowledge of technical standards in preparing construction programs (familiarity with MS Project or similar).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Computer literacy and the capacity to use current PC based software including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations and communications.
- Familiarity with Bluebeam/ Adobe (or similar pdf editor).
- Self-motivated and punctual.
- Able to manage multiple tasks and have excellent follow up skills both internally and externally.
- Construction industry induction card
