Experience Gold Coast
On 1 September 2023, HOTA has joined Experience Gold Coast, a super entity which combined HOTA, Study Gold Coast, Destination Gold Coast, Placemakers* and Major Events Gold Coast in an exciting new chapter that will see the city’s tourism, events, education, arts and culture portfolios working as one organisation focused on delivering exceptional outcomes for the city.
The Position
The Precinct Maintenance Officers support the management and upkeep of HOTA’s building and assets. The role requires a combination of hands-on reactive and preventative activities and contributes to a safe, maintained and presentable precinct. The Precinct Maintenance Officer is expected to be a champion of asset management best practices.
This position requires a service provider in building strong relationships and combined with a property management approach within the team.
Role Responsibilities
- Undertake and manage maintenance tasks across HOTA Central, Outdoor Stage and the HOTA Gallery
- Coordinate services and contractors to minimize disruptions to the business
- Manage maintenance work orders using the HOTA software system
- Build positive working relationships and work cooperatively and enthusiastically with all operational business units, including the City of Gold Coast Facilities Team to support the delivery of all services
- Undertake daily, monthly, and annual plant, building and equipment inspections
- Build, develop and document a working technical knowledge of the building and new assets
- Be a key source of asset and facilities knowledge by having a thorough understanding of policies and procedures relating to the work practices of the Transformation and Operations department.
- Attend department meetings as required
- Bring a proactive and continuous improvement mindset to the role with an eye for preventative maintenance opportunities
- Management of consumables in accordance with the HOTA procurement policy
- Any other reasonable duties as requested by the Asset & Facilities Manager
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of activities and events in the HOTA
Skills and Experience:
- Experience working in a similar maintenance role
- An ability to plan, organize and prioritse tasks
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Innovative problem-solving skills and an ability to develop creative solutions
- A demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels
- An ability to work effectively under pressure and through rapid change in an environment faced with competing demands
- General office administration and computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Knowledge of workplace, health and safety duties and responsibilities as applicable to this position
- An approach that is pro-active and enthusiastic
- An understanding that as a busy cultural precinct this role is required to work across a 7-day operation
