The French Speaking Association of the North Shore, FANS, is a non for profit organisation that manages the French bilingual program at Killarney Heights Public School.
We employ French native-speaking teachers from Kindy to Year 6. French teachers are fully integrated in the school community as they work in close-knit teams with Australian teachers. The school caters to an international community of French-speaking, international and Australian families.
Since 2012, the school has been awarded the Label FrancÉducation as recognition by the French Government of the excellence of the French / English bilingual education.
We are looking for one full-time permanent Teacher of French to start Term 1 2024.
As a French teacher, you will deliver the NSW curriculum in French to francophone (French mother tongue) and anglophone (French second language) students. You will join a team of professionals with excellence in bilingual education.
Job tasks and responsibilities
- Planning programs of study for individual students and groups
- Preparing and presenting material on the theory of the subject area
- Instructing and demonstrating practical aspects of the subject area
- Assigning problems and exercises relative to students' training needs and talents
- Assessing students and offering advice, criticism and encouragement
- Revising curricula, course content, course materials and methods of instruction
- Preparing students for examinations, performance and assessments
- Keeping abreast of developments in the subject area by attending professional conferences, seminars and courses, reading current literature, and talking with colleagues
- Arranging visits and tours to professional exhibitions and performances (if required)
- Organising for exhibitions or performances of students' work (if required)
- Bachelor of Education or Master of teaching
- Evidence of a minimum of 4 years full time relevant work experience post qualification.
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills
- Desire to work in dynamic and diverse environment
- Native French speaker
- Knowledge of Australian/ NSW/ IB Curriculums will be advantageous
- Reliability and punctuality are vital
