ROLE OVERVIEW

The Principal Consultant is responsible for expanding business through delivering outcome-based work to a variety of clients and proactively improving the Governance, Risk & Compliance capabilities within the organisation. The Principal Consultant will lead small to large projects to assist Client’s in the design, implementation of security risk treatments and control to help ensure the security of their systems.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Establish a trusted advisor relationship with Client’s by using your in-depth consulting experience and strategic account management expertise.
  • Focus on driving relationships and work alongside the Sales Team in developing and selling new opportunities with existing and new customers.
  • Driving thought leadership for the Advisory practice and represent Tesserent by presenting at industry events and forums.
  • Managing client relationships and ensure delivery to client expectations
  • Liaising closely with key stakeholders (business analyst, solution architects, project managers and sponsors) to ensure successful project delivery and understanding client’s most important needs.
  • Reviewing and developing procedures to improve operations or to solve problems related to governance, risk and compliance.
  • Providing team members with strategic direction and an overview of the project requirements, supervises tasks and their completion to ensure that the objectives are achieved.
  • Ensuring assigned project phases are carried out successfully as per schedule and the allocated budget.
  • Identity and communicate security risks, and advise on suitable risk treatments and controls to key stakeholders
  • Review and understand information system design documentation including solution architecture.
  • Understand and apply knowledge of information security good practices such as ISO27001 and NIST.

COMPETENCIES-

TECHNICAL

  • Ability to develop and deliver training and/or speaking material for public and/or private events
  • Ability to apply best practice frameworks such as ISO270001 and NIST
  • Proactively researching emerging security risks and controls
  • Ability to develop and utilise the company’s methodologies to provide effective security and risk advice
  • Ability to articulate business implications and accurately calculate risks of findings in relation to the business

BUSINESS SKILLS

  • Must be able to identify possible leads with the Sales team
  • Excellent written and verbal skills to clearly explain concepts
  • Strong understanding of commercial arrangements for small to large projects and able to demonstrate value of service offerings to clients.
  • Identifying and articulating security advice aimed at employees, managers, and executives

LEADERSHIP SKILLS

  • Must be open minded and forward thinking in terms of vision for the business and team culture
  • Must be able to manage different personalities to ensure maximum performance is gained from each individual
  • Mentor and coach other members of the team
  • Must be able to identify weakness and strength of each individual within the team to assist with training paths and capability development.

INTERPERSONAL & INTRAPERSONAL SKILLS

  • Ability to confidently and accurately speak about security and recommend security controls to experienced security professionals and executives
  • Ability to work as a team with decisions made to support moving toward common goals
  • Flexibility and motivation to work across various types of engagements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in Information Security or related audit field.
  • Ability to apply best practice frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, ASD Essential Eight.
  • Ability to develop and utilise the company’s methodologies to provide effective security and risk advice
  • Ability to articulate business implications and risks in relation to the business.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to clearly explain concepts
  • Open-minded and forward-thinking in terms of vision for the business and team culture
  • Ability to work as a team with decisions made to support moving toward common goals
  • Professional certifications are an advantage (i.e., CISA, CISM, ISO27001, PCIDSS)
