Principal Consultant - Drill and Blast Engineering

The opportunity
Reporting directly to the Director, Tunnels - Mining & Hydro, you will provide essential engineering expertise and oversee the designing, planning, and operations of tunnelling projects at our client sites. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership abilities, and a commitment to safety and quality.
There are two opportunities to support our clients in either Tasmania or NSW.
Key responsibilities will include:

• Develop and implement Drill and Blast plans in accordance with project specifications and safety regulations.
• Conduct geological surveys and analysis to determine optimal drilling and Blasting techniques.
• Collaborate with geologists, mining engineers, and other stakeholders to optimise blasting efficiency and minimise environmental impact.
• Supervise drilling and Blasting operations, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
• Monitor and analyse blast results, adjusting plans as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.
• Provide technical support and guidance to field personnel, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
• Maintain accurate records of drilling and Blasting activities, including inventory management and cost tracking.
• Continuously evaluate and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, safety, and environmental performance.

• Bachelor's degree in engineering with relevant specialisation.
• Experience in Drill and Blast Engineering within the mining or construction industry.
• Strong understanding of drilling and Blasting principles, techniques, and equipment.
• Proficiency with relevant software and technologies, such as blast design software and GPS tracking systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
