ECG Secondary College (ECG) is a registered independent school and a division of Community College Gippsland (CCG) delivering the Vocational Pathways Certificate (VPC) and VCE Vocational Major (VM). ECG has also had years 9 and 10 added onto its school registration for 2024.
CCG is also a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) registered with the VRQA and is also a registered Learn Local Provider.
ECG are a small alternative secondary school that delivers hands-on, practical, empowering education for students aged 15-20. We have real teachers, subjects and classrooms, but we go about teaching differently.
The curriculum is focused on giving each student what they individually need to succeed.
The Role
The Principal has oversite of ECG, including the compliance function that relates to ECG.
Role Specific Responsibilities (abridged, full version available in applicant pack)
- Working with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team to drive and deliver the achievement of strategic planning objectives and milestones.
- Ensuring ECG is providing quality education delivery across all year levels and programs.
- Ensuring ECG meets budgeted targets for student numbers and costs.
- Actively ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of students in the school (including all Child Safety requirements across ECG are upheld).
- Ensuring all legal and compliance responsibilities relating to ECG have been upheld and risk is being managed effectively.
Key Performance Indicators (abridged)
- Meeting Strategic Plan objectives and milestones within associated timeframes.
- Financial performance of ECG exceeds budgeted targets.
- Meeting client’s expectations regarding the quality and flexibility of school services.
- Improvements to attendance, retention, and completion rates of students.
- All legal and compliance responsibilities relating to the School have been upheld and risk is being managed effectively.
Key Essential Criteria
- 5+ years’ experience as a principal or deputy principal – preferably within a secondary school environment.
- Understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements of an Independent School.
- Experience with successfully leading and managing a high performing team.
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to successfully communicate and liaise with people at all levels, both internally and externally.
- Demonstrable workflow management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Demonstrable successful task organisation skills and implementation of continuous improvement.
Essential Qualifications and Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in education or organisational leadership, or equivalent (minimum four-year university qualification).
- Current VIT Registration.
- Current Victorian Driver’s Licence.
Terms and appointment:
The successful applicant will commence at the beginning of Term 2, 2024 or as negotiated.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Principal is a three-year tenured position with options to extend beyond an initial term.
There will be a regular appraisal of performance based on agreed criteria.
