Our Government Client is responsible for promoting, protecting, developing, maintaining and improving the health and wellbeing of the people of NSW, while considering the needs of the state and the available finances and resources.
 
The role

The Principal Economics Analystsits within the Economics and Evaluation Unit (EEU) to undertake analysis and provides economic expertise to support the delivery of NSW Health priority initiatives. In addition a core function is also to undertake program evaluations of outcomes and process evaluations of early impacts/implementation.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Provide timely, high level advice and support to the Director Economics and Evaluations and the senior managers to support business processes.
  • Undertake a broad range of economic analyses to inform the economic and resource implications of Strategic Reform Branch projects.
  • Apply macro and micro economic analysis to determine the service level impacts of new service delivery configurations and the system wide resourcing and funding impacts of proposed new service delivery configurations to support the Strategic Reform Branch initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of multi-dimensional resourcing strategies for specific projects to support informed decision making and strategic development.
  • Prepare documents including economic appraisals, briefing papers, discussion papers, reports, submissions, related correspondence and responses as requested to support organisational objectives and outcomes in relation to economic analysis, measurement and evaluation.
  • Support the development and application of economic appraisal methodologies and recommendations on proposed models of care and changes to clinical practice based on sound modeling, applied economic and available epidemiological and financial data to inform objective decision making around the sustainability of proposed reforms and changes to the service delivery.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, representing and negotiating on behalf of the Strategic Reform Branch, in order to facilitate contributions to the evaluation process
The successful candidate will have:
  • Tertiary qualifications in economics or demonstrated equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated ability in using macro and micro economic tools in conducting economic appraisals, modelling and analysis and applying this to current and proposed systems for health care service delivery.
  • Demonstrated high level analytical skills to undertake complex analyses using multiple data sources.
  • Proven ability to develop resourcing strategies and options at both a system wide and health service level.
  • Proven ability to undertake projects utilizing project planning, prioritizing and time management skills within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and work effectively with senior management and external stakeholders to deliver projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communications, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
