In Performance Budgeting Framework team:

Your work will include leading and managing a highly collaborative team in the development, transition and implementation of the NSW Performance and Wellbeing Framework (the Framework) announced in the 2023 24 Budget. The Framework will build on Outcome Budgeting and the broader NSW Government investment framework (including NSW Business Case Guidelines, the NSW Government Guide to Cost Benefit Analysis and the Guide to Program Evaluation), which will guide policy advice and development.

This role will work closely with Treasury’s Leadership Team, the Treasurer’s Office, and colleagues across the full breadth of Treasury’s Budget and economic functions, and external stakeholder facing roles.

In State Revenue Policy team:

This is a role that requires strategic planning, innovative thinking and effective stakeholder management to successfully navigate and make progress towards complex reform. A strong team focus, the ability to build trusted stakeholder relationships and to lead team members in achieving the team’s objectives are important.

In this role, you will develop expertise in taxation policy — bringing together principles from economics, accounting, and law. As part of this, you will develop a strong understanding of how to assess tax policy, including the policy framework for assessing what should be taxed and how tax should be applied. Central to this is understanding the economic costs of taxation, the split of taxation powers between the Commonwealth and state governments, and the legislative framework that underpins each of the State’s taxes. This role provides a unique opportunity to shape tax policy settings, drive tax reforms, and design tax law; within the context of the State’s fiscal and demographic challenges and evolving economic and societal trends

You will be joining our Economic, Strategy & Productivity Group and will be working within the Revenue or Centre for Economic Evidence Division. Read more about your future Group and Division.
