We are seeking talented Senior Electrical and Electronic Systems Design Engineers to support the Battlespace Communication System (BCS) Program. BCS is a next generation networking product that is the centerpiece for multiple projects and campaigns. The BCS combines both developmental and off the shelf hardware and software to provide world leading communications capability for users. It can be rapidly deployed from anywhere, and its modular design provides a flexible, scalable solution that can be customized for various mission needs.
We have a range of opportunities available as we plan for future work. This role will see you applying your hardware skills to either our core product, upgrading the capability to integrate with related maritime communications projects, or modernization of the joint air battlespace management system.

Responsibilities
- Leading the development of diverse engineering solutions for Electrical and Electronic equipment and custom electrical power, edge computing and network equipment.
- Leading the development of engineering documentation and configuration management of system hardware.
- Work with the project team to ensure the engineering scope is delivered within the quality, schedule and budgetary constraints of the project.
- Actively mentoring junior engineers and sharing your skills.
- The ability to communicate and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary and diverse team, in a conscientious and inclusive way.
Experience/Qualifications
Essential:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Mechatronics Engineering with RPEQ status or RPEQ eligibility.
- Demonstrated skills in complex electrical/electronic systems development, from concept through to production acceptance.
- Demonstrated skills in writing technical reports and developing documentation related to electrical and electronic systems.
- Demonstrated skills in the use of Altium Designer or alternative ECAD software for Schematic Capture and PCB Layouts.
- Demonstrated skills in the use of electronic simulation software such as SPICE, or simulation extensions of ECAD software such as Altium Designer
- Demonstrated skills in development of production drawings and materials for the production of Cable & Wire Harnesses, PCBs and CCAs.
- Demonstrated leadership skills mentoring and guiding junior engineers and technicians.
- Demonstrated skill in Systems Engineering process and documentation.
- Knowledge of Design for Test (DFT) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) concepts.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes for Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) and technical communicating with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements.
Desirable:
- Experience within Defence or complex engineering project environments is desirable.
- Demonstrated skills in the use of Configuration Management tools such as bit-bucket, SVN, Team-Centre, 3DXperience.
- Experience in the use of Altium Designer for High Density Interconnect (HDI) PCB Layouts
- Experience in the design and development of multi-board electronic systems.
- Experience in the design and development if flexible, and rigid-flex PCB designs.
- Experience in the design of high power and high efficiency switch mode power supplies.
