The Opportunity

We are seeking talented Electronic Design Engineers to support the Battlespace Communication System (BCS) Program. BCS is a next generation networking product that is the centerpiece for multiple projects and campaigns. The BCS combines both developmental and off the shelf hardware and software to provide world leading communications capability for users. It can be rapidly deployed from anywhere, and its modular design provides a flexible, scalable solution that can be customized for various mission needs.

We have a range of opportunities available as we plan for future work. This role will see you applying your hardware skills to either our core product, upgrading the capability to integrate with related maritime communications projects, or modernization of the joint air battlespace management system.

Responsibilities

  • Development of diverse engineering solutions for Electrical and Electronic equipment and custom electrical power, edge computing and network equipment.
  • Development of engineering documentation and configuration management of system hardware.
  • Work with the project team to ensure the engineering scope is delivered within the quality, schedule and budgetary constraints of the project
  • The ability to communicate and collaborate with a diverse, multi-disciplinary team, in a conscientious and inclusive way.

Experience/Qualifications

Essential:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Mechatronics Engineering
  • Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements.
  • Experience in the use of Altium Designer or alternative ECAD software for Schematic Capture and PCB Layouts.
  • Experience in the use of electronic simulation software such as SPICE, or simulation extensions of ECAD software such as Altium Designer
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes for PCBs, CCAs and technical communicating with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Experience in writing technical reports and developing documentation related to electrical/electronic systems.
  • Experienced in the use of electronics lab test and measurement equipment such as multi-meters and digital oscilloscopes.

 Desirable:

  • Experience within Defence or complex engineering project environments is desirable.
  • Experience in in electrical/electronic systems development, from concept through to production acceptance.
  • Experience in development of production drawings and materials for the production of Cable & Wire Harnesses, Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) and Circuit Card Assemblies (CCA).
  • Experience in the use of Configuration Management tools such as Bitbucket, SVN, Team-Centre, 3DXperience
  • Knowledge of Design for Test (DFT) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) concepts.
  • Experience in the use of High-Density Interconnect design techniques.
  • Experience in the effects of high-speed digital signals in PCB designs.
  • Experience in the design of DC-DC power supply circuits.
