You will also provide technical direction and guidance to other engineers and staff in relation to hydraulic modelling and ensures that Sunwater's capability in this area is maintained and enhanced and work closely with other disciplines, stakeholders and clients to deliver high-quality and innovative solutions that meet Sunwater's objectives and standards. This role will also work in collaboration with stakeholders to identify new hydraulic modelling opportunities for the Rocklea Hydraulics Laboratory to provide services and establishing valued client relationships with engineering consultants and bulk water entities in Queensland and Nationally. Responsibilities will include: Provide expert technical advice in relation to hydraulic design for dam and water infrastructure projects. Provide scientific and research-based solutions for physical hydraulic modelling and other related technical services. Lead and develop Sunwater’s hydraulic engineering and modelling capability. Lead hydraulic engineering assessments and calculations for the design of dams and other water infrastructure. Maintain up to date knowledge and understanding of best practice hydraulic modelling and proactively engage in industry events. Ensure hydraulic engineering standards are available and implemented across the enterprise for both standards based, and knowledge based hydraulic design activities. Assess individual hydraulic engineering projects to identify creative solutions to delivery challenges and to enhance business outcomes. Promote the capabilities and benefits of Sunwater Rocklea laboratory as a leading provider of physical hydraulic modelling solutions. Coordinate and oversee the planning, design, execution and reporting of physical hydraulic modelling activities at Sunwater Rocklea laboratory. Positively promote and actively role model Sunwater values and behaviours to support the delivery of our services. About you We are looking for someone with significant technical leadership experience in hydraulic engineering projects. In addition, you will be able to demonstrate: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related engineering field Minimum 10 years’ experience in hydraulic engineering and design Advanced knowledge of hydraulic engineering principles, standards and regulations Proven experience in spillway design, hydraulics structure design and physical/numerical hydraulic modelling Highly proficient in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling software such as Flow 3D Proficient in CAD and/or GIS drafting We strongly encourage applications from candidates…
