We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Planning and Engineering Officer to join the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage Infrastructure team. In this role, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning and development of WA community by planning for the transport infrastructure and associated road design.
You would be responsible for leading a team with a broad range of responsibilities to lead and deliver strategic development of policy and projects and provide high level advice on engineering practices and standards and policy issues as it relates to transport planning. The Department is seeking leaders that can effectively communicate and collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders and will represent the Department professionally and with integrity.
This is a fixed term, full-time or part time position. This process may be used to fill future similar permanent or fixed-term positions that may arise within the Department and across the WA public sector in the next 12 months from the initial date of appointment.
Located in Perth CBD in a convenient location, above the Perth Underground rail; close to the Wellington Street Bus Station and City CAT services.
To be successful for this position, you need to demonstrate:
Extensive skills, knowledge and experience and proficient in:
- Transport planning, traffic engineering, traffic modelling and road design.
- Preparing and/or reviewing traffic and transport reports and providing specialist technical advice and recommendations to a range of stakeholders.
- Project management and contract management.
- Proven capacity in building and enhancing stakeholder relationships in a multidisciplinary environment, using effective negotiation and facilitation skills to achieve positive outcomes.
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Traffic or Transport Engineering or an approved equivalent, eligible for corporate membership of the Institution of Engineers.
- Demonstrate the behaviours within the leadership context of Leading Others as outlined below.
