About the role
The Platform Services Team maintains, supports and operates AEMO’s high availability Multi-cloud infrastructure. The infrastructure consists of a national data network, AEMO owned private cloud, Public cloud and Cloud Software Services offered by Azure. The role ensures policies align with AEMO’s cyber-security framework to secure the infrastructure. This infrastructure supports AEMO’s real-time data, voice, video and the Energy Market systems essential to run the Australian Energy Markets.
This role requires innovative thought leadership to guide decision making on new technologies and investments in AEMO infrastructure. It also needs to bring a high level of expertise and is responsible for providing strategic guidance on complex BAU and projects issues. This multicloud infrastructure is critical to AEMO delivering highly available services to participants and is essential to ensuring the security of the Energy markets and systems. The challenge is to balance the operational availability demands and deploying projects for new services in an environment that is undergoing rapid industry change. Including rapidly expanding our service offering to move from traditional energy resources to distributed managed renewable resources.
Position Responsibilities
- Lead infrastructure, services, modernisation and security initiatives
- Ensure that IT Platform systems and infrastructure are monitored and secured against internal and external threats, including risk management and information security. (E.g., Patching and upgrades)
- Maintain and extend in-depth technical knowledge across a broad range of technologies, including Server and security frameworks and best practices, storage and backup technologies and server hardware suppliers.
- Orchestrate, manage, and deliver different platforms. Develop and deliver business aligned technology to a roadmap.
- Effective leadership and mentoring of junior-mid level engineers with Strong Stakeholder management capabilities.
- Requires to be on the On-call roster 24*7 support to respond to incidents after hours (Rotation 1 in 8 weeks)
Position Requirements
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in Server, Storage and Data Protection technologies. E.g. Dell, Pure, Cohesit.
- Strong Infrastructure background (Servers, Storage, Virtualization) with proven experience in DevOps, Ansible, PowerShell.
- Proven experience in Data Centre infrastructure technology environments.
- Hands on technical experience with M365 & Azure
- Strong experience in a Multi-Cloud environment.
- Knowledge of industry best practices such as ITIL, Change Management, Quality Assurance Systems
- Experience working with Security frameworks and SIEM is preferred.
- Knowledge in containerisation, AKS, OpenShift.
Education/ Certifications
- Degree qualifications in Computing and IT, Communications/Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
- Recognized professional certifications in VMware, Microsoft and server and storage hardware technologies.
- Certifications associated with Cloud services, Azure, AWS or Google
