OPPORTUNITY FOR A HIGHLY MOTIVATED WASTE MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST TO JOIN A GREAT TEAM WITHIN LOCAL GOVERNMENT

The Waste Services Branch
Toowoomba Regional Council’s Waste Services Branch manages, operates, and controls the region’s waste and resource recovery initiatives across a range of Waste Management Facilities. The branch also coordinates and manages waste collection services while providing education and awareness of waste and resource recovery to the community.
The team is composed of indoor and outdoor staff that collaboratively offer a wealth of knowledge and experience in different aspects of Waste Management and embrace individuals with enthusiasm, initiative and fresh ideas.
Driven by the TRC Waste Management Strategy 2021, we believe that setting out the waste and resource recovery needs of the region is an essential service that plays a key role in minimising the environmental impacts of waste while creating economic benefits for the region.
About the position
As the Principal Program Development & Planning - Waste Management for the Greater Toowoomba Waste Management Facility you will be responsible for delivering projects and programs in alignment with Council's Waste Management Strategy at our award winning waste facilities. You will work closely with the Principal Waste Strategy and Planning and the rest of the team in a progressive, friendly and supportive environment.
This position is a Full-time Contract based at our award winning Greater Toowoomba Waste Management Facility.
The base salary for this position is $100,107.84 - $106,175.89 gross per year, plus 17.5% annual leave loading and up to 12.65% superannuation.

How to be successful in this position
Hold the mandatory qualification(s), training and/or experience, as outlined under the 'Success Criteria' in the Position Description.
High level of problem solving, research and analytical skills.
Ability to make decisions within the accepted parameters of Council policies, procedures, work practices and delegations.
Project development experience with a strong history of developing projects in Waste Management or closely related fields,
Leading/coordinating complex procurement and contract development processes
Experience in the development, review and execution of business strategy.
Project portfolio management experience including refining existing processes on project identification, evaluation and funding approvals.
Drafting funding applications for grants announced by state and federal governments.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including government agencies (state & federal), specialised advisors and the industry.
Understanding of Commitment to Council's Organisational Value and Behaviour in Accountability.
