Our Opportunity
Work Location: Fortescue Centre & Bennett St - Fortescue's Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.
Roster: Monday to Friday
Fortescue wholly owns and operates our purpose-built rail and port facilities, constructed to deliver iron ore from our mines to Port Hedland for shipment to our customers. Covering 760km of track, our railway is the fastest heavy haul line in the world.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing asset integrity and reliability assurance of Fortescue's Rail network, inclusive of track and rolling stock assets.
- Supporting the capital portfolio for Fortescue's Rail network by reviewing business cases of individual projects to ensure optimal allocation of capital.
- Develop, support and maintain sound Engineering Standards to ensure our rail assets are reliable, efficient and our people are safe.
- Support Operations and Asset Management teams to implement rail best practice, life cycle assessments and strategic planning.
- Support to our Rail Operations team with equipment failure investigations, breakdown and technical support, remediation and reliability reviews.
- Providing technical engineering support to our Project execution teams including scoping, design review & technical queries (where rail assets are included);
- Providing safety leadership to effectively identify and manage technical risks across Fortescue's Rail network;
- Line reporting and management of Specialist rail Engineer role/s, coaching and mentoring of junior engineers;
- Although this role is Perth based, regular visits to our Operations in the Pilbara are an expectation of this role.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical or Civil preferred)
- 10+ years heavy haul network experience, inclusive of significant experience with a track background.
- A candidate that has a mix of design, project delivery and operational background is preferred but not essential.
