Kinglake West Primary School has been serving its semi-rural community since 1896. It is situated in a bushland community set high on the Great Dividing Range about 65 kilometres north of Melbourne.
At present our enrolment is approximately 140 children. While most of our students live in various parts of Kinglake West and Pheasant Creek, significant numbers are drawn from surrounding districts including Kinglake, Middle Kinglake, Flowerdale and Whittlesea.
Our facilities promote active student-centred learning through the creation of adaptable, functional spaces. These include break out and intervention spaces which promote flexible learning options. Our buildings consist of a library, gymnasium and art room. We have a large oval, two playgrounds, vegetable patch and chicken coop. A relocatable classroom complements the main buildings and offers flexible learning options.
Kinglake West Primary School prides itself on the teaching and learning opportunities available to our students. Our work is guided by the FISO improvement cycle and our staff work in Professional Learning Communities to analyse student data and focus their work in a way that will achieve the best outcomes for our students. Great emphasis is placed on the wellbeing of our students, staff and families as we believe that at a holistic approach to a child's education is the most effective.
The school currently offers Art, LOTE, Physical Education and Performing Arts to the students as well as an Art extension group and other various programs and supports. Our programs are supported by contemporary resources and the latest evidence-based practices teaching and learning.
We are proud of our closely knit and inclusive school community. We strive to provide a safe, secure and educationally stimulating learning environment that empowers students to be the best they can be, both academically and socially.
