About the role
We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and self-motivated microbiology laboratory scientist to be part of our expanding team. The key responsibility of this full-time position is to perform diagnostic microbiology procedures and tests in compliance with the departments established protocols, as well as other areas of the laboratory as needed. These include:
- Adhering to policies and procedures, prioritise and organise workflow safely and efficiently, and with commitment to quality.
- Demonstrate scientific and technical competency in microbiology culture and microscopy set up and analysis including bacteriology mycology, parasitology, and mycobacterium.
- Maintaining and utilising equipment and instrumentation.
- Work under direct supervision of the Chief Scientists; perform tasks as requested by the Medical Microbiologist and Chief Scientists.
- Exhibit high level of interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
- Participate in night and weekend shifts as part of a 7-day working roster.
Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will be required to:
- Provide a client focused approach to ensure that accurate clinical diagnostic microbiology results are provided promptly.
- Demonstrate enthusiastic and self-motivated work ethic.
- Demonstrate the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate experience in microbiology culture and microscopy analysis.
- Demonstrate experience with high throughput laboratory equipment and testing a variety of specimen types.
- Availability to work a variety of shifts including night and weekends is essential.
