The Principal Regulatory Officer in VicGrid Division's Renewable Energy Zones (REZ) and Transmission Development team will play an integral role in shaping Victoria's energy transition to cleaner energy. This role will support the Project Director, VTIF Development in the provision of regulatory and legislative expertise and support across VicGrid.
The successful applicant will ideally have prior government policy experience, as well as knowledge/experience of the energy sector, ideally including the national electricity regulatory framework (the National Electricity Law and National Electricity Rules), as well as Victorian energy legislation. The position requires strong leadership, project management and stakeholder engagement skills. Sound understanding of governance processes in Government is desirable.
You will be a proactive self-starter with strong skills in working collaboratively, critical thinking and problem solving. The ability to work with limited supervision in a complex, sensitive, fast paced environment and high performing culture is essential.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in a senior legislative/ regulatory role within the energy sector is highly desirable.
- An appropriate legal qualification would be desirable, but not essential.
- Understanding of the regulatory framework, including relevant Victorian energy legislation, the NER and NEL, would be desirable.
