About This Opportunity
As a Principal Research Technician, you will work as part of a senior research team to provide high-level, specialist research expertise to research projects, grants, and initiatives. In this role, you will support the delivery of a range of research projects in the area of Indigenous health.
Key responsibilities will include:
Providing specialist expertise to maximise research outcomes in health-related research programs working with Aboriginal communities.
Contributing research subject matter expertise to the design, implementation, and evaluation of research methodologies.
Contributing to and coordinating research outputs, joint preparation and authorship of reports/ manuscripts where appropriate.
Undertaking comprehensive literature reviews in support of research outcomes.
Contributing to and/or draft elements of research proposals, grant applications, ethics applications and/or other documentation.
Managing compliance with approved research ethics protocols.
Contributing to research quality assurance, control, and improvement activities, in collaboration with senior research staff and stakeholders.
Mentoring and/or supporting the development of more junior Research Technicians/engineers, scientists.
The UQ Poche Centre is based in Toowong, Brisbane however, remote interstate arrangements would be negotiated with the preferred candidate.
This is a part-time (20%), fixed-term position for up to 12 months.
At HEW level 7, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $94,754 - $103,180, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $110,862 - $120,721 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.
About You
We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Principal Research Technician to support the delivery and quality outcomes of a range of research. The successful candidate will have significant research experience and expertise in a relevant field.
Progress towards or completion of a post graduate qualification in epidemiology, Indigenous health, or related health discipline with experience in Indigenous health or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
Demonstrated research-relevant knowledge and skills with expertise in a wide range of research techniques at all stages of the Health research cycle.
Significant experience of working in a research team environment, working with Aboriginal communities and/or community-controlled organisations.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to produce clear, succinct research documentation and the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of research and community-based individuals.
