As a result of international and domestic growth related to Fortescue's evolution toward becoming an integrated resources and green energy company, Group Risk, Assurance and Insurance is seeking a Risk and Assurance Principal to support the decarbonisation program. Working in a dynamic and focused team, a suitably qualified candidate is sought to support and manage the delivery of high-quality risk management and advisory activities.
Operating in a matrix structure and reporting to a Manager Governance, Analysis and Improvement, the role will work closely with all levels of management to build trust and confidence to support the achievement of Fortescue's strategic objectives.
The successful candidate will have the confidence to challenge the status quo, engage with senior leaders and partner with diverse teams to deliver innovative solutions that support effective decision making. This role will suit a candidate who is well organised, has strong interpersonal and communication skills, can work independently, is innovative and resourceful in solving problems and has a strong focus on quality and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and facilitate the delivery of risk identification and assessment workshops on the decarbonisation program.
- Provide credible advice on how risks are assessed, effectiveness of existing or planned controls and how risk management can support effective decision making.
- Follow-up and verify the implementation of agreed risk improvement plans.
- Support ongoing risk analysis and insights reporting for senior management, Steering Committees and the Board.
- Assure the quality of risk management activities in accordance with professional standards.
- Provide advice to the business on matters associated with risk management and internal controls.
In order to be considered for this opportunity, you will bring 10+ years' experience in risk management (including a combination of a Big 4 professional services environment and large, complex multinational businesses).
Must have a university degree in commerce, engineering or MBA.
This role will suit a candidate who is well organised, has strong interpersonal and communication skills, can work independently, is innovative and resourceful in solving problems and has a strong focus on quality and customer service. Knowledge and experience in mining, energy or industrial operations with exposure to risk management associated with delivery of large capital projects is required. Exposure to decarbonisation or manufacturing risks will also be favourably viewed.
Knowledge and practical application of ISO 31000 Risk Management standards is essential.
Your maturity, decisiveness and strong emotional intelligence will see you succeed in this position. The role may require domestic and international travel.
