About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and with direct accountability to the Sandfire Board and associated Committees, this role will lead Sandfire's global Risk and Assurance function, supporting the creation and protection of value to all stakeholders.
A key focus of the role is to drive the ongoing development and embedding of a fit for purpose, integrated and effective risk management and Assurance framework throughout the organisation. Additionally, the role will partner with leaders across the organisation to strengthen the understanding, identification and mitigation of Risk, supporting a robust and positive risk culture across our teams.
This role is also accountable for the oversight of Sandfire's Internal Audit Programs.
Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to):
- Lead the global Risk and Assurance function:
- Partners with the broader Sandfire risk community to develop, embed and continuously improve effective risk management practices, assisting risk owners in the identification of Risks and development of strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Lead the implementation of the 'Three Lines of Defence Model' across the organisation, including within the Assets and Group Functions roles.
- Leads the ongoing development, coordination, and oversight of the Internal Audit function.
- Develop strong and effective relationships across the organisation, building stakeholder Risk and Assurance management capabilities as the foundation to creating a robust and positive risk culture.
- Develop and embed systems and processes to provide efficient, effective, and integrated risk management and Assurance practices across the organisation, supporting timely and quality risk reporting to senior management and the Board and Leadership team.
- Provide strategic commercial advice to management, anticipating issues, estimating risks and identify proactive solutions that will help eliminate or mitigate risks.
- Travel to our global operations as required.
About You
- Bachelor degree or above
- Qualifications in risk, compliance, or related fields
- At least 15 years' experience in a related field
- Experience in the implementation of Risk management frameworks and processes for global organisations
- Extractive industries / operations experience desirable
