Principal – Risk Management

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Principal to join the Marsh Perth team, operating within our esteemed Risk Management Practice. This role involves taking charge of the growth, profitability, and client satisfaction of a portfolio containing intricate priority accounts. This encompasses nurturing and cultivating client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor to clients, exploring new business prospects, and broadening the range of Marsh products and services accessible to clients. Collaborating closely with the Managing Principal, you will provide support to their portfolio while also mentoring a group of skilled individual contributors on your accounts, guiding them to achieve objectives and backing clients.
This position necessitates a focus on building robust client relationships and delivering exceptional client service, which involves consistent client interaction within your portfolio, overseeing risk and insurance program renewals, and working closely with your team. You will collaborate closely with the Managing Principal and engage in cross-functional teamwork within Marsh.

We rely on you to:
- Develop, implement, and attain Risk Management and insurance programs that effectively address client requirements
- Cultivate and sustain enduring relationships with key client decision makers through regular meetings and communication
- Expand and retain a portfolio, focusing on a select number of high-value accounts to meet personal and team sales targets; supervise and mentor junior broking professionals supporting these accounts
- Maintain awareness of significant and potentially complex claims matters; assist claims personnel in negotiating fair claim settlements for clients
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of major insurance categories offered by the Company, staying current with new technical and product advancements
- Demonstrate a comprehensive working understanding of the Insurance (Agents & Brokers) Act, Insurance Contracts Act, Fire Services Levy, Stamp Duties, Worker's Compensation, and other relevant regulations
- Develop research strategies for account development, gathering detailed information about key decision makers, strategic business challenges, and priorities for personal and team use in expanding the portfolio
- Maintain a profound understanding of service team capabilities, making account delegation choices to address account ownership concerns, promote cross-functional collaboration, and assist members with at-risk accounts
- Cultivate meaningful relationships with insurers, clients, and diverse Marsh colleagues throughout Australia through regular communication and collaboration
- Support the Managing Principal in financial reporting and team budgets
- Engage in industry events, conferences, and client functions to build a robust professional network, stay closely connected to the relevant market, and represent Marsh effectively

- Over a decade of experience in Insurance broking
- Strong comprehension of business and organizational Risk Management
- Prior track record of managing a portfolio of intricate accounts
- Profound understanding of insurance across all aspects and strategic client engagement
- Exceptional communication, influencing, and negotiation prowess
- Essential Tier 1 FSRA Compliance; tertiary qualification beneficial but not obligatory
