About the role
Our government client is seeking experienced Principal Software Developer
- Provide expert software development guidance and advice, ensuring alignment with best practice Information Communication and Technology (ICT) design, development, and delivery frameworks.
- Set the direction and lead the introduction and use of techniques, methodologies and tools used in systems development.
- Lead the assessment, analysis, development, and planning of complex ICT changes, including evaluation of risks to the integrity of current infrastructure and applications.
- Maintain an in-depth and up to date knowledge of programming languages and techniques.
- Maintain knowledge in current and emerging development and end user tools, techniques and industry trends and initiatives and their possible application to the business, and recommend solutions to staff, project teams and organisational stakeholders.
- Lead the development, implementation and review of policies, procedures, and development standards in relation to application development and design.
- Contribute to the development of proposals and strategies, specifically in relation to the integration and transition of existing systems and applications into updated solutions architecture, where and when appropriate and feasible.
- Initiate, influence and maintain relationships with and between key internal and external stakeholders facilitating effective communication channels to ensure the successful delivery of assignments including feedback mechanisms and management of expectations.
- Support the implementation of continuous process improvement activities
- Technical expertise – Demonstration of expertise and recent development with .Net Core, Blazor application development ideally hosted on Microsoft Azure.
- Leadership and team facilitation – Proven ability to work within a broader development team and share knowledge and architecture decisions for ongoing application sustainability.
- Stakeholder management and negotiation – Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain options, challenges, performance, project deliverables and services in business terms. This should include a commitment to deliver collaboratively and cultivate productive working relationships with proven negotiation, consultation, and facilitation skills with a wide variety of stakeholders.
- Architecture – Ability to quickly identify issues/options/proposed solutions in line with architecture and technical considerations to ensure project delivery; problem solving on issues as they arise, experience with negotiating with challenging stakeholders and broader architecture governance for dispensation or approvals.
