QBuild is a vital part of Queensland's $50 billion building and construction industry which employs 235,000 Queenslanders.
As the Queensland Government's builder, QBuild plays an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities.
With almost 1,400 staff and a network that includes 20 offices and 34 depots across the state, QBuild is well positioned to deliver construction and maintenance services to communities including those in regional and remote areas.

Key responsibilities include:
- Manage the development and delivery of WHS training and information sessions for the region, including liaising with external providers when needed and supervising administration of maintenance of the regional WHS training register.
- Provide WHS&E advice, support and guidance to department operational, supervisory and management staff regarding QBuild Safety Management System (SMS) processes and requirements, legislative compliance and new technologies.
- Manage and support the team to conduct site WHS&E audits and inspections to ensure work compliance, including for both QBuild and contractor delivered work.
- Lead the investigation of incident and hazard investigations, producing reporting as required, as well as educate QBuild staff with reporting incidents.
- Manage the offices and depot to ensure emergency planning and response activities are completed.
- Lead the development and implementation of SMSs, risk assessments, WHS management plans and any other WHS management system processes as needed by the region.
- Provide senior management with formal reports on Health and Safety KPI's and support the regional management team in the management of the rehabilitation of staff.
- Ensure formal WHS&E reporting to the region and business is completed as required.
- Proactively manage the work performance and personal conduct of the region's WHS team, including providing coaching and mentoring to enhance capability.
- Manage WHS&E and provide WHS&E support relevant to program managers in the delivery of individual works programs.
- Lead, develop and educate staff in new technologies both in the field of WHS&E (including the management of asbestos and lead) through formal training and regular communication.
- Review Environmental and Safety Management System procedures and make recommendations for improvement.
