This Department are considered a lead legislator, responsible for delivering key policy priorities across South Australia with a focus on sustainability and renewable energy. Due to increased workload, a vacancy is available for a Principal/Senior Policy Officer to provide support on the development of a new regulatory Act.

Your new role

You will work strategically to support high-level policy development including:

• Engaging with external parties to conduct consultations and gather information. Some intrastate travel is required.
• Providing concise, accurate and evidence-informed briefings and submissions for Senior Executives and the Minister
• General policy tasks including research and literature reviews, analysing complex issues and recommending practical solutions

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered for these roles, you will meet the following criteria:

• Have or be willing to obtain a National Police Clearance
• A valid driver's licence and willingness to travel across the State to engage with stakeholders

• Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply legislation, and to analyse, evaluate and present complex information in a previous high level policy role
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, to effectively build relationships with external stakeholders
• Ability to work autonomously within a small team

What you'll get in return

In exchange for your commitment, a competitive hourly rate + 11% Superannuation will be offered, initially for 6 months, with the possibility of extension and flexible working arrangements provided. You will have the support and guidance of a dedicated Recruitment Consultant throughout your assignment. Working on key programs of work, you will effectively work to shape the offerings of this Department to their key stakeholder groups, and work in a supportive and flexible environment.
