Hyzon is driven to deliver a better future with strong products, sound values and solutions for a changing world, with a focus on generating new jobs, new manufacturing, and technology facilities, and fundamentally a “localized” industry. There is no better time to join our team!
Role Summary
As the Australian economy continues to embrace Hydrogen as a clean energy option, so do we at Hyzon. During 2024 we will commence volume manufacture with one of our key Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) platforms while continuing to pilot and evolve others. These are exciting times for the sector, and to support this, we are seeking an energetic and experienced Manufacturing Process Engineer to join our expanding team and to help drive this transition from a pilot environment to volume manufacture.
In this role you will be responsible for working with the pilot development and engineering teams to design and document the production process, encompassing heavy assembly, electrical architecture (both HV and LV) and the new challenges of Hydrogen storage systems and Fuel Cells. Whilst we anticipate speaking to candidates with experience of some of these elements, it is expected that for the right candidate this role offers new challenges and learnings - getting to grips with the demanding technologies required for Australia to move to clean transportation solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting the pilot vehicle builds to build up knowledge of the way the vehicle is assembled whilst also offering feedback to the design teams
- Establishing the required processes and documents to support the workforce in the delivery of FCEVs on time, at the right cost and in a safe environment
- Designing supporting required factory layouts, e.g. proposing the most effective approach as production ramps up through 2024/5
- Training staff in new and existing processes using prepared documentation
- Ensuring that procedures adopted and relevant documentation provided is in line with the requirements of HMA’s ISO registrations
- Providing management reports on production line performance across quality, cost and time
Qualification and Experience:
- Bachelor of Manufacturing Engineering or similar discipline is required.
- Previous experience as a manufacturing process engineer or similar role with a good background in the principles of lean manufacturing
- Evidence of delivery of manufacturing standard operating procedures and supporting documents, such as one-point lessons as well as proficiency in required software applications
- Familiarity with manufacturing equipment and quality assurance techniques
- Experience in heavy assembly environments and/or high voltage applications is an advantage
- The ability to work well under pressure, with strong leadership skills and an understanding of teamwork
- Must be goal-oriented, highly effective, and able to support project milestones in a rapidly evolving environment
The position is based on site in the Regional Head Quarters in Noble Park and will require occasional travel throughout Australia and New Zealand.
