About the role:
Knauf is seeking an experienced Process Improvement Engineerto join our operations team based at our manufacturing site in Port Melbourne, VIC. You will bring strong leadership skills and experience working in manufacturing operations and join a team who are passionate about safety, quality and continuous improvement as well as promoting a positive team culture to help drive performance.
Reporting to the Quality Manager this role will support the team by evaluating, re-engineering, and improving processes and systems that improve the overall performance of the business to ensure a competitive edge within the industry.
This role leads initiatives to drive process optimisation and efficiency across our continuous manufacturing process by reducing variation and identifying waste in our process. You’ll assist with business problems and opportunities while recommending solutions that enable the business to deliver against its objectives.
As our Process Improvement Engineer your responsibilities will include:
- Ability to lead and deliver successful projects within a fast-paced continuous manufacturing environment
- Analyse business process and tasks to determine business improvement and efficiency gains that will have a direct impact on the productivity of our people and business
- Identify, standardise, simplify, and formalise core business processes and systems
- Develop relations with and work along side key internal stakeholders to prioritise improvement initiatives to achieve value added results and implement industry best practice
- Assist in the development of business cases, feasibility studies and risk assessments for key business projects
- Analyze and evaluate manufacturing processes and develop recommendations for changes to process, working methods or operational sequence to deliver improved efficiencies
What you will bring to the role:
- A hands-on attitude with experience delivering business and Process Improvements utilising lean tools and methodologies with a track record of delivering measurable improvement
- Previous experience delivering successful project outcomes in a fast-paced continuous manufacturing environment
- Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple objectives and competing priorities within given timeframes
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to self-motivate and work autonomously or as part of a team
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills with proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the business
- Continuous Improvement and Operations/Engineering management leadership experience
- Highly developed computer skills (MSOffice) coupled with strong administration and reporting skills
Candidate requirements:
- Relevant tertiary engineering qualification essential, preferably chemical or mechanical
- 2-3 years similar experience required within a manufacturing environment
- Continuous Improvement experience with a sound knowledge of Lean Six Sigma, CI and TPM tools and methodologies
- Safety mindset and can do attitude
