Position Overview:The Procurement Manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement processes for Oakey Beef Exports, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of quality materials and services. This role involves strategic planning, supplier relationship management, and the implementation of best procurement practices to support the company's operational goals and objectives.
Key Responsibilities:Strategic Procurement Planning:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with Oakey Beef’s business goals.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks in the supply chain.
- Monitor market trends and conditions to adjust strategies accordingly.
Supplier Management:
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and reliability.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and negotiate contracts to secure advantageous terms.
- Conduct regular performance reviews of suppliers and implement improvement plans when necessary.
Cost Management:
- Manage the procurement budget and ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions.
- Implement cost-saving initiatives and track their effectiveness.
- Analyse and report on procurement costs and trends to senior management.
Operational Excellence:
- Ensure the procurement process is efficient, transparent, and compliant with company policies and regulations.
- Collaborate with other departments to forecast demand and manage inventory levels.
- Continuously improve procurement processes through the adoption of best practices and innovative solutions.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for the supply chain.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date procurement records.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and mentor the procurement team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and capabilities.
- Conduct performance evaluations and manage the team’s workload effectively.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, preferably within the food or agricultural industry.
- Proven experience in strategic procurement and supplier management.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
