Our client, a significant player in Tasmania's transportation sector, operates as one of the largest transport providers in the region. They are dedicated to enhancing connectivity and efficiency across the state, managing both Below Rail and Above Rail assets.
Primary Position Objective:
The Procurement Specialist will play a pivotal role in facilitating the acquisition of goods and services within the organisation's procurement framework, with a focus on achieving sustainable procurement outcomes.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Provide expert advice to senior management on procurement matters to ensure cost-effective and value-driven outcomes.
- Lead strategic sourcing initiatives and RFx procurements to secure commercially beneficial outcomes.
- Assist in reviewing and integrating procurement policies and procedures into all projects.
- Develop and implement procurement processes tailored to organizational needs.
- Coordinate the assessment of RFQ, RFI, RFT operations and manage Procurement Plan timescales.
- Ensure procurement probity and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate procurement activities.
- Oversee the evaluation process of key RFx procurements and prepare reports for business delegate approval.
- Assess the need for formal contracts and establish contracts with major suppliers.
- Monitor and review current contracts and preferred supplier agreements, ensuring compliance.
- Five (5) years of demonstrated experience in Contracts, Procurement, or similar roles.
- Proficiency in coordinating and coaching staff in RF(x) processes.
- Previous experience with Purchasing Management Systems.
- Strong computer literacy and communication skills.
- Current driver's license.
- Experience in preparing offer and contract documentation.
- Proven ability to manage contractual arrangements effectively.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills for consultation, negotiation, and relationship building.
- Strong written communication skills for policy development and reporting.

The position is required to comply with all applicable financial delegations, policies, standards, and procedures within its authority.
Working Arrangements:
- Completion of a National Security/Criminal Record check and pre-employment medical.
- Employment Contract.
- Preference for Launceston-based position, with discussion open for other locations within the State.
- Nominal working hours: 38 hours per week; reasonable additional hours may be required.
- State-wide role (Intrastate travel may be required).
